Handling Index Errors:

It's important to note that trying to access an index that is outside the valid range of indices for a string will result in an IndexError. For example:

print(my_string[13])  # Raises an IndexError

In the above code snippet, we attempt to access the character at index 13, which exceeds the length of the string. As a result, an IndexError will be raised. It's crucial to ensure that the index is within the valid range to avoid such errors.


Accessing Multiple Characters using Slicing:

In addition to accessing individual characters, Python also supports slicing, which allows us to extract a substring from a given string. Slicing is done by specifying a range of indices separated by a colon (:). The range is inclusive of the starting index and exclusive of the ending index.



my_string = "Hello, World!"
print(my_string[0:5])  # Output: Hello
print(my_string[7:])  # Output: World!
print(my_string[:5])  # Output: Hello

In the example above, we use slicing to extract different portions of the string. The first slice [0:5] returns the characters from index 0 to 4 (exclusive), giving us the substring "Hello". The second slice [7:] starts from index 7 and includes all the remaining characters, resulting in "World!". Finally, the third slice [:5] omits the starting index and includes all characters up to index 4 (exclusive), giving us "Hello" once again.
